This was my 3rd "Berlin" show (after Brooklyn 2006 and Manchester 2007), and I don't think that it had the sheer emotional intensity of the other 2. The band's entrance was very low-key: they simply wandered on to the stage about 30 mins late and put on their instruments. Lou appeared, and when everyone was ready, the choir just launched right into "Sad Song". The whole band were a bit hesitant for the first couple of songs, but then they seemed to find a groove and it was very tight from then onwards. Lou played very little lead guitar, but his voice held up well. Steve Hunter was superb (I've often wondered how Mike Rathke feels now - shunted off to the side playing rhythm guitar in-fills while Steve takes all the good solos...). Rob Wasserman was unobtrusively excellent and Fernando was Fernando. Tony was, as always, thunderous.
I dont know what I did wrong but my recorder switched off after 30 minutes. I have 3 friends who were all recording this show - one of them is bound to have captured it all. As soon as I get a complete copy I'll upload it (if someone else doesn't get there first).
The encores were : "Satellite Of Love", "Rock And Roll" and "Power Of The Heart".

After the show a small crowd of fans gathered at the stage door. About an hour later, security made us form an orderly queue and said Lou would be out shortly. Sure enough, out he came, wearing a black baseball cap and looking very small and fragile. He slowly walked down the queue, shaking hands, signing things and even posing for photos! In all the times I've seen Lou I have NEVER seen him so friendly and willing to talk. I've also never seen him looking so old - he really does look like the 66 year old man he is. I wonder how much longer he'll be able to keep this up.....
